After consulting with DEFRA/SVS it has become apparent that current fears, in the wake of confirmation of the H5N1 strain of Bird Flu at a Turkey farm in Suffolk, have led to a blanket ban on bird 'gatherings' being imposed. The order came in to force at 12pm Monday 12th november 2007.

We are informed that a 'gathering' includes all falconry field meetings, displays and shows. At present, Individual Exemption Licences (which, during previous outbreaks, had been issued to allow field meetings to take place) are not being considered.

The situation is rapidly changing, and we will endeavour to keep everyone updated with the latest information as it becomes available.
