Threat to falconry in Scotland

Posted on Dec 3, 2006

The link below will take you to a consultation instigated by the Scottish Executive to review schedule 9 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act in relation to preventing the release/introduction of invasive species. You will find that they are contemplating including all non native falcons and their hybrids in the legislation, plus eagle and snowy owls. This would put an end to the trips to Scotland by many falconers to hunt red grouse with their falcons. Responses from both individuals and organisations are being requested, so we need to rally the troops and make sure that as many falconers as possible, irrespective of whether they are club members or not, respond to this consultation.
